MEET LLOYD HESTER

I am a sales and marketing professional with over 40 years experience as a self-employed entrepreneur with a wealth of knowledge in setting up and running traditional bricks and mortar companies as well as numerous online businesses.

There are, unfortunately, no shortcuts or push-button solutions despite what you might read from the ‘get-rich-quick’ gurus punting their wares.

It just takes a good idea and a lot of effort, but, if you work at it, then there is no doubt that you can make money online. Believe me, if I can do it, then anyone can!

I have owned a lot of traditional businesses over the years, but saw the benefits of virtual real estate and websites in the early days of the worldwide web. I started buying domain names and still hold more than I care to let the wife know about 😉

There is no secret to building a successful online business. The fact is that it is really simple to do but not easy. It is a formula; you just have to do the right things in the right order and work at it. There is no simple fix.

You also have to be willing to evolve and adopt new strategies at the beginning of the curve, if possible and work at it continually.

It does take time, effort and persistence, but the rewards are well worth it.

The internet is now making it possible for us to live the life we want, where we want, do what we want and, most importantly, to have time to spend with our family. And we love it!

My wife and I now live very happily in Mainland Spain on a small Finca (farm) with 2 of our children, horses, chickens, a goat, 5 dogs and a cat. Although when you read this, the chances are that the numbers would have increased if the wife and daughter have anything to do with it. (Apparently we are about to adopt a donkey!)

Our income comes from a small property portfolio that we have built up in the UK and the Canary Islands as well as  several e-commerce websites selling a number of physical and digital products.

I also provide, when asked, consultancy and training services to other companies, helping them to grow their business by updating and implementing sales processes and working with them on new (on-and-offline) marketing strategies, as well as training sales managers and sales teams in direct and indirect sales.

Even though I say it myself, I would consider myself something of an expert in online and offline marketing techniques, although with the internet continuing to change so fast,  I am always learning something new.

The internet has opened up a world of opportunity to anyone that has access to a computer and the internet. You do not need a lot of money to start, you do not have to be super brainy or be able to write code or design.

There are so many ways to make money online. The problem is that people are led to believe that it is easy to do, and it is NOT. It is simple but, like anything, it takes hard work and persistence to make it work.

I have been an entrepreneur all of my life and have never held down a proper job. I am kind of unemployable, although I think I am a pretty easy – going chap in my own humble opinion.

I started my first ‘proper’ company at 19 years old and, by the time I was 28, I had 5 businesses.

I lost everything when I was 31 and, being flat broke, I moved to Tenerife to work. I figured that if I was to be skint somewhere, then I might as well be ‘skint’ in the sunshine. (The weather in the Canary Islands is so much warmer and sunnier than in the UK).

It was my first experience of living abroad, and I loved it. Since then, my family and I, have travelled the world, as well as living in the Canary Islands for many years, Russia and also in Bali for a year or so.

We love to be location independent and the freedom that working online provides.

We still have the whole world to choose from and there are still so many places we have not yet been to.

We were planning on travelling from Florida and zigzagging across the whole of the US over 2 or 3 months, ending up in Las Vegas, where we have already been several times, but the pandemic (2020) stopped that.

Lets see what the rest of 2021 and 2022 brings us.

Watch this space.
